EXCITING NEWS FOR ST. ALPHONSUS CHURCH!
- The Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation has named the St. Alphonsus Church one of “The 2020 Top 10 Most Endangered Buildings in the State.” While this may sound scary, getting this nomination will help FOSA in applying for grants, obtaining national sponsors, and resources from artisans.
You can check out the press release and some photographs on www.lthp.org.
- During this COVID shut down, several recorded concerts made from inside the church can be viewed on FOSA Facebook page. Local musicians have been playing their hearts out to take our minds off being separated and quarantined. The musicians include Allen Pavie Hebert, Meschiya Lake, Tom McDermott, Oscar Rossignoli, Carmela Rappozzo, and Andre Bohren. Additional concerts to be held in the coming months.
- In development is a series of lectures featuring the history, art, symbolism and more of this beautiful church. Each lecture will last approximately one hour. They will be free (donation appreciated) and open to the public beginning in January 2021.
